Icy Purple Head 2: What Made the Sequel Special
The first game proved the idea. The sequel turned it into a series — with delivery boxes, seesaws, and a purple hero shipping himself around the world.
A delivery story
Icy Purple Head 2 wrapped the ice mechanic in the cutest premise imaginable: the purple head needs to slide into an express delivery box at the end of every level, stamped and ready to ship. That little cardboard box gave every level a destination that felt like a story beat, not just a goal marker.
Physics toys everywhere
The sequel's levels are full of wooden planks on pivots, seesaws that tip under your weight, and platforms that swing. Because the ice state is frictionless, every one of these toys behaves differently depending on your form — solid purple sticks to a tilting plank, while the ice cube slides off instantly. Levels became little machines you had to operate.
Electric fences and timing
Lightning barriers switch on and off in rhythm. They forced the series' first real timing challenges — you'd park in solid form, watch a full cycle, then commit at full speed. Our own game pays tribute to this idea with moving ice gates and spinning bars in the later levels.
Why it still holds up
One-button controls, readable levels, and physics that never lie to you. Icy Purple Head 2 respected the player's time — a level takes thirty seconds to attempt and days to master. That's the exact philosophy we built our 20 levels around. Give it a spin and see the family resemblance.
